Rome (Italy)- May 28-29,
2011
The
workhop is open to dancers and actors. Total teaching time
will be 12 hours. A maximum number of 28 participants will
be admitted.
Program
The Nuova e curiosa scuola de' balli theatrali (1716) by Gregorio Lambranzi is
a unique document in dance history, in particular because
of the precious testimony about Commedia dell'Arte. The plates
by Johann Georg Puschner, that illustrate the balli as if
taken directly from the stage, combine with melodies and
short scenarios in visual puzzles used by Lambranzi to connect
the dance-technical and dramaturgical aspects which contribute
to the invention of a theatrical dance.
The workshop combines practical an theoretical lessons with
the aim to read Lambranzi's pictures as concrete information.
Well known Commedia dell'Arte characters like Pulcinella
and Scaramuccia will be taken as examples of this splendid
technique of theatre art. On the basis of prepared structures
every participant to the workshop will be invited to find
his own way of interpretation.

Curricula
Klaus Abromeit since 1993 directs,
jointly with Renate Lühr, the company l'autre
pas of which he has been a founder in 1985 in Berlin. The group, whose activity was initially devoted to the study of sources in baroque dancing and its theatricality, subsequently widened its scope in the range between theatre, architecture and visual arts, keeping an eye on the experience of the Bauhaus theatre. From 1988 to 2000 the company collaborates to interdisciplinary workshops within the 'Tanzwerkstatt
Berlin'/'Internationales Tanzfest Berlin'. In 2007 Klaus
Abromeit directed and choregraphed the opera Boris
Goudenow by Johann Mattheson for the Early Music
festival Russia in St. Petersburg. Recently he has teached, jointly with Guillaume
Jablonka, the workshop Theatre and pantomime
dance in XVIII century: Grotesque from Lambranzi to Ferrère at the Conservatoire d'Asnières sur Seine.
The Association "Il Teatro della Memoria" was founded in 1992 with the purpose of promoting historical research, publications, courses and performance in the field of early music and dance. Among the activities of the Associazione are the XIX
Century balls in historical palaces and the participation to festivals, exhibitions and re-enactments in Italy and abroad. Performances by the Associazione were featured at the Musée de l'Ariana in Genéve, the University of Roma - Tor Vergata, the Court Theatre in the Royal Palace in Caserta, in the festivals "I
concerti nel Parco" (Roma), "Notturni
in Villa" (Milan), "BolognaEstate" and the "Medieval
Festival" at Rhodos. Since 2002 it organizes the international early music and dance summer workshop "L'Humor
Bizzarro" info:
